8 Days Ndutu Calving Experience

Ndutu Calving Experience Overview

Experience the Serengeti ecosystem at its most life-filled moment, as thousands of wildebeest gather on the fertile plains of Ndutu to give birth. Beginning in Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Crater, this journey builds toward the southern Serengeti, where new life and constant predator action create a uniquely dynamic safari. With Vaa Africa, you’ll be guided through this extraordinary season with care and insight, staying in thoughtfully selected camps that place you close to the action. Gentle mornings watching newborn calves take their first steps contrast with thrilling sightings of big cats on the hunt. It’s a rare and moving experience where the circle of life unfolds in its most vivid and unforgettable form.

It’s time to begin your safari. Welcome to Tanzania! After we greet you and provide you with the trip briefing, we’ll take you out to help you discover why so many people think Tanzania is the best place in Africa to go on safari.

We think you’ll be impressed with Tarangire National Park. Most visitors love the distinct shapes of the baobab trees silhouetted against the sky that make this place feel like a fairy-tale African landscape. Or visitors remember the elephants that roam in family bands everywhere throughout the park. If you’re lucky, you’ll also encounter the big cats – lions especially, but also cheetahs and leopards – that are always a possibility here. And there’s a fair degree of certainty that you will tick wildebeest, giraffe, hippo, buffalo and zebra off your wildlife-viewing list.

Day 3 – 4: Ngorongoro Crater

Today you’ll visit Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most beautiful natural sights in Africa, a place where you’ll experience otherworldly beauty with extraordinary wildlife. Watch as, from above, morning mist rolls up and over the crater rim, and notice how the steep walls suggest a place unlike any other. Down below on the crater floor, explore a lost world preserved in a state of pristine isolation, one that shelters lions and hyenas, elephants and black rhinos, flamingos and golden jackals. There are also forests, hippo- filled lakes, a salt pan and hyena dens, and you’ll never lose the sense that you’ve stumbled into a safari theme park where everything’s wild.

Day 5 – 7: Ndutu Area

On your visit to the Northern Serengeti, there’s a good chance that you will see big cats, elephants and more. Just as special as the animals you’ll see is the scenery you’ll get to explore. Far more so than elsewhere in the park, the north is dominated by rolling hills, mixed with grasslands and light forests. There’s also the Mara River which marks Tanzania’s border with Kenya.

Day 8: Kilimanjaro International Airport
